Xiaomi is best known for its budget smartphones with excellent value. The company’s recent foray into large screen LED TVs have shaken up the market in India once dominated by Samsung, Sony & LG. Large screen TVs such as 55″ and 65″ are now more affordable than many flagship mobile phones. To set the context for this article, we have picked the Mi TV 4 Pro vs 4x Pro TVs from Xiaomi for comparison which is 4K HDR TVs under 50k Indian rupees.
Both the televisions are made by TCL which originally manufactures most of Mi TVs in India. Xiaomi owns a minority stake (0.48 percent) in TCL (China) and has an agreement to jointly do research and development on various integrations of high-end essential electronic components of smart, intelligent hardware and electronic information core.
Xiaomi controls the software named PatchWall on all these TVs and offers digital content using its platform. Both these televisions come at a very competitive price and are ideal for cost-sensitive customers who simply want a bigger TV.

As you can see from the above comparison, the ultra-slim panel (Samsung VA panel) is the key differentiator on the Mi LED TV 4 PRO when compared with the Mi LED TV 4X Pro. If you are not at all concerned with the slim form factor, we recommend going with the Mi LED TV 4X PRO since it is considerably less costly with almost the same features.
On top of that, the 4X Pro comes with a 10-bit panel and HDR10 support which is superior when compared with the Mi TV 4 which comes with 8-bit HDR support.
Other than the form factory, Dolby Audio (on Mi TV 4) and HDR, both the TVs come with similar specifications as shown above.
While we like the Mi LED TV 4X Pro over the Mi LED TV 4 PRO due to its low cost and comparable features, there are some issues that we hope Xiaomi will address in the future. We have mixed feelings with the PatchWall OS. Xiaomi still does not provide a proper standby mode. Moreover, it does not remember your last selected source (HDMI 1, 2, etc.).
Since most of the connectivity ports are on the rear, accessing the I/O options becomes an issue especially when the TV is wall mounted. A dedicated mute button is also missing on the remote, and you will need to use the Google voice to mute the audio. Also, watching Netflix or Amazon Prime cannot be done directly. Either sideloading or using an Amazon Fire TV stick is the solution.
Most of the users including ourselves are happy overall with this TV because of the immense value that it brings to the masses, especially in a country like India.
