Of course not. There is a way you should be able to reset your password and get back to your cloud storage account. However, if you want to how to reset your iCloud password, here are the ways you can reset it. The steps to reset the password is applicable on Windows and other devices.

What is iCloud?

iCloud, as you should be aware of, is a cloud storage service offered by Apple. It assists you in storing your photos, videos, documents, and every other type of file. You will have access to your data across practically any device.

The iCloud functionality is available on several common platforms, which includes Mac, Windows, and Android. iCloud can also lend a helping hand if you have lost your device. If you want to use iCloud on your devices, you would need to configure it on either an iOS device or a Mac. Once you have set up your account, signing in to your iCloud account on any other devices (with a supported browser) should not be an issue. Do note that you will need to sign in to your iCloud account using your Apple ID.

Once that done, you should have access to your content on every device you have installed it on. The changes made on one of the methods should be visible instantly on other devices. What makes it an exceptional choice is it will help you access it through a web browser as well. The service is available over a web interface for your convenience. This is how you would have access to the iCloud account without the dependency of an iOS device.

Thus you can make use of iCloud even if you have no access to the iOS device or a Mac, but working with a Windows PC / laptop, or an Android device. You would need to create the account on an ios device to make a beginning though.

Of course, you need an Apple ID for using iCloud service. If you do not have one, you can create it while signing up for the iCloud service. The iCloud service comes with 5 GB of usage on the free plan. If you want more storage, you can opt for a monthly plan of your choice.

What if I Forgot iCloud Password?

Have you forgotten your iCloud password? Well, that happens quite frequently. Forgetting a password is not a big deal, and something invariably happens. In the current breed of cyberattack issues and a high degree of privacy concerns, we tend to change our passwords quite frequently, and this is precisely why we may forget our passwords.

Resetting your iCloud password should not be a huge concern. Apple has made it easy to reset your iCloud password and assign a new password. There are ideally three reset options available at your disposal. The methods include email verification, security question, and two-step verification option.

How to reset your iCloud password?

Well, whether you are on Windows or Android, you should be able to reset your password without any issues. Of course, you need to have access to your Apple ID for the purpose. You would have created your Apple ID when you created your iCloud account.

Follow the steps here carefully –

  • Launch any of your web browsers. You need not be on any specific device or operating system.
  • Click on Apple ID or password?
  • Enter your Apple ID and then click on

You will now get two options to retrieve your password. While setting up your iCloud account or Apple ID, you would have configured a security question. If you remember the security question and the answer that you have specified already, you can choose the option. If not, you may select the option to reset the password through your registered email that you had signed up.

If you choose the email verification method, here is how you would proceed with your password retrieval.

  • Choose the option for email authentication and click on
  • You will receive an email on the registered email ID
  • Click on the link for resetting your password. You will receive this on your registered email address.
  • Choose a new password.
  • Confirm your password.

Once that done, click on the Reset Password option. That will do it. Your iCloud password will be reset. You can sign in to your iCloud account using the new password that you just configured. Make sure you do not forget it again!

If you have chosen for the option of security question to reset your password, you can move ahead with the following steps –

  • Choose the option Answer Security Question
  • Click on Next
  • Choose your Date of Birth
  • Click on Next
  • Answer the security question. The security question you configured when setting up the iCloud account should be visible.
  • If you answer the question correctly, you are offered an option to enter a new password.
  • Enter your new password.
  • Confirm your new password.
  • Now, choose the option to reset your password.

That should do it. Your password stands reset, and you can continue using the new password that you just created.

The two-factor authentication method

The method will only work if you have already configured the Two-Step Authentication on your iCloud account. You can set it up when creating your iCloud account or configure it later. However, if you have not configured your two-factor authentication and lost your iCloud password, there is no way you would be able to recover or reset it.

The Two Factor Authentication will need you to configure a trusted device when you set up the option on your iCloud account. You will be able to recover your password using the trusted device.

You can follow the steps described here for resolving the issue –

  • Visit the Apple ID site as in the previous tutorial.
  • Enter your Apple ID.
  • You should now find two options to reset your password. Choose the one that you would prefer.

The Two Factor authentication method provides you with two options for resetting your password. One of them will use a trusted device you have configured, while the other will use your phone number to reset your password. Please note that the phone number needs to be registered at the time of creating your iCloud account or added later.

If you want to choose the registered phone number option, follow the steps here –

  • Opt for Use trusted phone number
  • You will receive a notification on the registered phone number.
  • Follow the steps as indicated in the notification to reset your password.

In case you decide to choose a trusted device option, here is what you can do –

  • You will need to go to Settings -> iCloud on your trusted device.
  • Tap on Password and Security and then on Change Password.
  • Enter your new password
  • Confirm your new password.

That should do it. You will be able to reset your iCloud password successfully. However, please note that the trusted device that you configure should be an iOS device. The method will not work if you do not have an iOS device.

Use a Password Recovery Software

You can make use of the password recovery option available through third-party sources. There are several third-party software tools available that can assist you in recovering your iCloud password.

However, once again, the catch here is that you will need an iPhone or an iOS device to work with the third-party tools.

Since we are discussing a scenario where you do not have access to any iOS device, but working with an iCloud account without an iOS device, this method will not be practical.

However, we have mentioned it here just to let you know of one of the possible options to reset your iCloud account password.

Avoid those situations in the future

Well, forgetting a password and not being able to recover it can be a harrowing and annoying condition. If you have been using iCloud as your primary cloud storage and have no access to any other services, then it could be an issue. The lost password can mean losing all your data and files permanently.

If you want to avoid such a situation, it may be worthwhile to use password managers. There are several third-party password manager options available. Browsers like Google Chrome offer their own password managers that would work across devices and platforms. Since your passwords are linked to your Google Account, you should be able to recover them whenever you want. It is true for any device that has access to your Google account.

Of course, you can opt for the third-party password managers that tend to provide a host of additional features.

Before We Conclude …

Apple ideally provides you with several options to reset and recover your lost iCloud password. However, when it comes to a situation where you do not have an iPhone or any other iOS device (or Mac, for that matter), there are limited options available as outlined in the above tutorial.

However, we would stress the need for a password manager in case you tend to forget your passwords quite often.
