Airtel has quietly introduced a new feature in their “My Airtel” Android app. With the release of version 4.1.3 on the Google Play store, Airtel now provides 2 GB of free cloud storage. You can use this to backup your contacts, messages, photos, documents, and videos. You would need to enable mobile data between 1 AM to 5 AM to ensure data sync. You will NOT be charged for data usage for using this service which is a good thing. Read on to know more about how to backup your Airtel phone data.

If you have not yet downloaded the “MyAirtel” app yet, go ahead and download it first. Install the app and follow the on-screen instructions to log in with your Airtel number. Once you are logged in and ready, follow the steps below to complete the setup.
Step 1: Tap on the option which says “Introducing Airtel Backup.”
Step 2: Tap on the option which says “Try it Now.”
Step 3: On the next screen, it will prompt you to keep the mobile data on between 1-5 AM for data sync. If you usually keep your phone data on, just tap anywhere else on the screen to ignore this message.
Step 4: In this step, select only the items which you need to backup. For example, in our case, we are just backing up Call history, Contacts, Documents, and messages. If you have an extensive collection of photos and videos, it is better to uncheck these items. Else, you will run out of your 2 GB space in no time.
Step 5: You are all set. You can go to the settings and review your backups in case you want to customize it.
Here are the screenshots for the steps that we explained above:
If you want to want to change your backup settings, you can do so from the settings menu. You will get two options under settings. They are as follows:
