Just by looking at the table above, you can easily tell that there is no difference technically except the clock speed. While AMD Ryzen 7 1800x offer 3.6 GHz base clock speed, AMD Ryzen 7 2700x promises to offer 3.7 GHz processing frequency/speed at the base. This difference might seem a little novice.
However, 1800x offers only 4 GHz processing frequency at boost while the new 2700x provides 4.35 GHz. Nowadays, there is hardly any reason to use the CPU in the stock mode, so this will make an impact on overall CPU performance. Memory and Cache Latency:
AMD’s first gen processors had higher memory latency causing the performance drop in sensitive memory operations. However, new 2nd gen processors, consisting of 2700x have improved every cache levels and memory latency.
AMD Ryzen 7 2700x features 13%, 24% and, 16% of latency improvement compared to 1800x, on different levels of cache. Moreover, it has improved memory latency by 11%. AMD is hesitating a bit to disclose their secret to cut down memory and cache latency. However, some experts are confident that AMD has utilized infinity fabric and integrated memory controller to make these improvements possible.
Instructions per Clock:
Latest benchmark results from the initial tests show that AMD Ryzen 7 2700X handles more instruction sets at every clock compared to 1800x. The difference is close to 1%. It might feel tiny but leaves an enormous impact on multi-threaded performance. How much? We are still seeking the answer for that. But for now, it is sure that 2700x is better than 1800x in every term, and it surely delivers the value for your money.

Following the Ryzen 7 1800x, AMD new Ryzen 7 2700x continues to offer excellent value for money as it comes with eight core / 16 threads. It features Zen+ architecture like most of the CPUs in Ryzen CPU family. However, AMD has set a new standard by using modern 12nm lithography.

The Ryzen 7 1800X:
Belonging to the very first generation of Ryzen Processors, The Ryzen 7 1800x is flagship Ryzen CPU by AMD. It has a clock frequency of 3.6 GHz while boosted frequency can go as high as 4.0 GHz on stock settings. This means that it can go even further with overclocking. The Intel counterpart of this chip, i7-6850K is comparatively more expensive. Moreover, 1800x delivers 25% extra multi-core performance compared to i7-6850K chip.
Intel has always been dominating CPU market by offering higher IPC. However, the IPC difference between Intel’s Kaby Lake and AMD’s Ryzen is merely 9%. This shows that AMD is doing everything they can to beat Intel in CPU market.
