Though entirely unheard of, the UMIDIGI F1 lives up to the competition with its feature set. One of the things we liked the most with the smartphone is the USB type C connector that it comes with. Not to forget the protective case that you get as part of the sales package. For the price of under $200, it should be one of the best options and comes with premium packaging.

The phone offers you a premium look in tune with the rest of the premium devices like Oppo or Xiaomi. You will find a waterdrop notch, and the large screen with thin bezels and a body to screen ratio of 89%. The edges do not touch the screen, something akin to the design we observed with Xiaomi’s range of Redmi devices.

The rear comes with a plastic polycarbonate material that offers you a matte finish. You will also find a dual camera module and a fingerprint sensor as well. The fingerprint is powerful biometric security feature with regards to unlocking and other App security feature. You have access to two Nano SIMs and a dedicated microSD card slot.

The 6.3-inch screen comes with IPS LTPS display and a resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels. The aspect ratio reads 19.5:9, better than most of the premium phones currently available. The pixel density of 409 PPI and the IPS LCD screen provides you with a great deal of brightness. Good sunlight legibility is what would make it a formidable choice.

The MediaTek Helio P60 processor powers UMIDIGI F1. The phone has a 128 GB storage and expandable storage up to 256 GB. The 4 GB RAM is at par with most the current breed of the medium range of smartphones. The phone works efficiently with no lagging or slowness of any sort. It even works efficiently even with the demanding 3D apps and games. Of course, some games will need you to keep the graphics quality to medium for a lag free performance.

The phone runs on Color OS, borrowed from Oppo. The smartphone runs on Android Pie 9.0. The interface is quite user-friendly. However, if you think you need a break from the customized OS and the home screens, you can check out the options of other launchers like Nova or Google Now.

Coming to the cameras, you have a dual camera on the rear. The primary camera reads 16 MP, while the secondary camera of 8 MP is used for portraits. The camera samples appear quite good in daylight. There seems to be a little mismanagement of the automatic HDR. Night or low light shots can be an issue with minor details. Once again, the HDR is not up to the mark. On the front, we have a 16 MP sensor. However, the shots do not live up to the resolution.

The battery is something we cannot stop focussing on. The 5150 mAh battery should provide you access to more than a day’s backup. Under ideal circumstances, you should get at least two days of reserve.

Outside China, Lenovo mobiles has been dormant over the last year or so. However, the new Lenovo Z5S offers a few exciting functionalities. The triple cameras and a waterdrop notch are what should make it a great choice by every standard.

The phone looks utterly similar to the Lenovo Z5 but slightly larger. The rear has multiple layers that give it a unique premium look. The camera bump is visible and can be an issue. The build is a little heavy, and you will find that the phone cannot be used with one hand.

Like the UMIDIGI F1. The Lenovo Z5S too comes with a 6.3-inch display and a resolution of 1080 x 2340. The aspect ratio once again is 19.5:9. The pixel density reads equal to that on the UMIDIGI F1 at 409 PPI. The rounded corners can be an added advantage. You have access to a sufficient brightness, and the phone provides you with a good deal of outdoor legibility as well.

The phone is powered by the Snapdragon 710 that offers you 2.2 GHz performance with its Octa-core big.little performance cores. We found no hanging or jerks through the use for a few weeks. The Lenovo Z5S offers you 64 and 128 GB internal storage options. The expandable storage can reach up to 256 GB. It comes with a RAM choices of either 4 or 6 GB.

The phone runs with its Vibe UI. It should be noted that the UI has been criticized a lot in the past. However, you can check out any of the compatible launchers for an excellent Android experience. Even then, the system settings may be a concern in many cases. There are several setting that is hidden and can be a little challenging to work with. But, if you have been a regular Lenovo user, it may be a good option for you. Fingerprint sensor can take over most of the tasks. This is one of the areas that have become quite common with the phones running on Android Pie 9.0.

While the dual camera functionality can work in a manner that it has been used on other devices, the third camera is used for telephoto purposes. It also provides you access to a 2x optical zoom as well. The dual camera configuration comes with 16 MP and 8 MP cameras. The third camera has a resolution of 5 MP. The camera app is AI enabled and is said to learn on its own about the settings based on the scene.  The daylight shots produce a good deal of images in terms of color, details, and brightness. Low light shots, however, introduce a lot of pixelation.

However, the performance of the smartphone and the design may be the negative aspects. However, there are a few areas that may be interesting and may go in favor of the Lenovo Z5S are the better video performance, higher CPU frequency, and excellent performance.

In essence, we found the two devices being almost equivalent baring a few pros and cons. We do not think it would be easy to provide an exact clear winner among the two.
