Google Sheets gives you the option to export your spreadsheets to various formats like xlsx, PDF, CSV and others. By default, Google sheets would try to export the worksheets to Google Drive. However, if you want, you can export them to the file system, OneDrive etc.

Using this method, you do not need a PC or a Mac. You need to have the following Apps and services enabled on your Android device.

  • Google Sheets
  • Microsoft Excel for Android
  • Onedrive
  • Microsoft Account
  • *Optional: Office 365 Subscription

See my earlier post on how to use Excel in Android.

Once you export the Google Sheets to Onedrive, you need to sign in with your Microsoft account. Once authorized, you can save the file on the cloud based storage service.

Always export the files into a folder, and saving the files on the root directory is not recommended.

Once the file exported, Open the Excel Android App, Select to open from other sources and select Onedrive.

Ensure using the same Microsoft Account for accessing Onedrive in both Google Sheets and Excel for Android.

Once you have opened the file, you can either “Save a Copy” or save to the existing file.
