Xiaomi branded Mi Phones are quite popular these days as they give end users great specs and value for money. As a part of the bundled software with the Phone comes access to the Xiaomi Mi Cloud. Using Xiaomi Android phones and Tablets, you can access Xiaomi Mi Cloud and save your photos, sync contacts (CardDav) or merely backup your apps. In this post, we walk you through the process to access Xiaomi Mi Cloud and understand its features.

Xiaomi gives you free 5 GB of Cloud Storage space to store your data. This also allows seamless data migration across Xiaomi devices. You can, however, purchase additional storage based on your requirements. Here are the Storage options:
As you can see, you can buy up to 1 TB of storage space if you need more. Else, just like most users, keep using the free 5 GB of space. With the limited free space, it is recommended that you use it only to store contacts, messages, settings, and notes. As an alternative, to save media files, you can use Dropbox, OneDrive or Google Drive instead. They provide better integration with Android to store your pictures and videos since their free storage tiers are higher much higher in comparison to Mi Cloud.
The online storage account allows you to store contacts, messages, gallery, notes, call logs and even your WiFi settings. You can also “sync contacts” or “backup” your photos and videos with one click. If you have an iPhone or iPad, you can sync and download content to Xiaomi device seamlessly. The contacts app also allows you to merge duplicate contacts and cleanse your contact list items. You can also open your Mi Cloud using a web browser.
Once you Sign into your account, you would be prompted to enter a phone number to recover your account details. See the screenshot below:
Adding a Phone number will trigger an OTP (One Time Password). The OTP will be sent to both your email address and your phone number. Do note that you need a Mi branded phone with MIUI to support the cloud feature. Here are the steps are given below:

You can get started by Syncing contacts, Photo Galleries, and other App settings. Do note that, to use these features, you would need a Mi phone. The MIUI skin which runs on Mi phones supports the Mi cloud, and there are no additional settings that need to be configured. Additionally, you can also send messages from the web through your device and also use this service to find your device (in case it’s lost).
Use the Mi Mover App: Download it from here. Using the Mi Mover, you can directly transfer your files, Apps and data peer to peer without using the internet. Using WiFi direct, you can move all the files at a speed of up to 6 Mbps.
In this method, there is no 3rd party network that is involved, so security concerns are less. Once all the files are moved, you can disable or uninstall the app.
