There is not much information available on the exact status and features offered on the new Helio P 90T. Even the official website does not share much of the information about the new chipset.
However, from whatever information that has been made available to us, the processor would be the flagship processor from MediaTek. The processor has eight cores and clocks at up to 2.05 GHz. The processor is integrated with Mali G76 clocking at 800MHz. The processor is built with the 12 nm manufacturing process. It may be noticed here that Xiaomi has not used the MediaTek processors on its devices so far. The only exception in this context is the Redmi Note launched in 2014. Every other Redmi Note device – Redmi Note 3, Redmi Note 4, Redmi Note 5, Redmi Note 5 Pro, Redmi Note 6, Redmi Note 7, and the Redmi Note 7 Pro – have a Snapdragon processor powering it.
Now, the new Redmi Note 8 and Redmi Note 8 Pro are tipped to be equipped with the MediaTek Helio P90T powering it. The smartphones are planned to arrive this October and will be available in multiple storage options.
This will be the first smartphone – not only from Redmi – to feature the new MediaTek Helio P90T Snapdragon 665. The phone was launched in India on October 16, 2019. The variant in China does not come with Helio P90T.
The unique feature offered by the Redmi Note 8 is the quad-camera setup on it. Massive storage and RAM capacity are the other two features provided by the camera. The Redmi Note 8 offers you a 6.3-inch display with the dot notch standard. You can also be assured of a 90 percent screen to body ratio. The liquid cooling system is one of the excellent options on the phone.
The 48 MP quad-camera offers you an excellent option in terms of the high-end photography experience. The 48 MP primary camera is ably supported by an 8 MP ultra-wide-angle lens, a 2 MP depth sensor and a 2 MP Macro lens. A unique lens for macro photography can be one of the great features you would find extremely useful for your shooting requirements. The camera-centric phone is equipped to shoot high-end 4K videos along with slow-motion video capability. You can also enjoy portrait and macro shots.
The 6.3-inch FHD + display is one of the perfect options making it one of the best features. The 19.5:9 aspect ratio and 409 PPI will make it a great choice in terms of high-end clarity. The screen offers you a 450 nits brightness. The display also provides you a few additional features like Sunlight Mode, Reading Mode, and Night Mode.
You can buy the Redmi Note 8 in four vibrant color options like Neptune Blue, Moonlight White, Cosmic Purple, and Space Black. A dedicated microSD card support is yet another added advantage. The phone comes with an astounding 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB internal storage capacity. You also have an option to go with the 4 GB and 64 GB internal storage.
On the power front, you will find a 4000 mAh battery along with an 18W fast charging feature. The Type C port and 3.5 mm audio jack will take care of your connectivity needs. You also have access to an IR Remote, as well.
The speaker also comes with enhanced functionality in the form of self-cleaning cameras. The speakers release a patented sound through which the air cleans the speaker inside out. The phone will be made available from October 21 through Amazon and Mi.com.
This is yet another device featuring the MediaTek Helio P 90T. The phone carries forward the best design that made Note 7 a popular option. Yes, we are talking about the ‘Aura Design.’ It provides you access to a four-sided color option that gives it a highly premium look.
The smartphone comes with three color options that include Halo White, Classic Black, and Gamma Green color variants. The Gorilla Glass protection both on the rear and front makes it one of the strongest and powerful devices ever. The added IP52 Water and dust resistance is yet another feature you would not want to miss out on.
The screen to body ratio offered by the phone is an astonishing 91.4 percent. It should be the best aspect ratio ever on a smartphone in this price segment. The camera on the phone is perhaps the best at 64 MP. The phone makes use of the Samsung Isocell 64 MP sensor – the Samsung Isocell Bright GW1. The pixel merging Tetracell technology improves the low light performance further ahead. You can also experience an extra high degree of performance through an HDR capacity of up to 100 dB.
The 64 MP primary camera comes equipped with a depth sensor of 2 MP and an 8 MP ultra-wide-angle lens.
There is also an availability of a Macro lens of 2 MP resolution. The Macro lens can take images as close as 2 cm focus distance. What’s more, you can even enjoy the fantastic option of Macro Videos. You can shoot portrait images both on front and rear cameras.
On the front, you have access to a 20 MP Selfie camera. The front camera can shoot images with the help of multiple AI modes. This can further enhance your experience in achieving the best possible selfies ever with the camera.
MediaTek Helio P 90T powers the smartphone and also comes with liquid cooling thermal management. One of the unique options offered on the camera would include the WiFi X antenna, where you would be able to achieve the best possible latency. The device comes with dual SIM functionality and a dedicated microSD card slot.
The phone starts with the 6 GB RAM and 64 GB internal storage options. The 4500 mAh battery capacity should be one of the best and offers you access to an improved performance level if you are looking at the improved battery backup. The built-in support for Alexa should make it one of the formidable choices and the first on an Android device.
Those were a few smartphones you would find to be available with the new MediaTek Helio P90T. However, as things stand as of now, only two smartphones come with the processor powering it. We would expect more similar devices are coming up, and when they come up – we will update this post with the requisite details.
For now, we have only two devices from Xiaomi, and you can check them out from October 21.
