Qicent, is a young company based out of Shenzhen, China. They primarily focus on USB Power Strips and USB Travel Chargers, plus Home Improvement accesories. Compared to other well known Chinese brands selling in the USA like Anker and Aukey, Qicent is a relatively new entrant. The company contacted us for a review of their powered USB Hub, and we readily agreed. As soon as we received the shipment from China, we opened, installed and started using for our daily use. If you have a thin and light laptop, there is a high chance that USB ports are limited on them. A powered USB hub is useful in these scenarios. For our testing, we did just that. We used one available port on a Lenovo X250 Ultrabook for testing the device. All the ports on the hub are USB 3.0 and backward compatible with USB 1.1 and 2.0. The USB Hub in use Buy From Amazon If you hadn’t intended to use it for data transfer, do it. We tested it a bit and experimented with it. Our results indicate that we should use it exclusively for that. We used many external hard drives all pinned into this as well as smartphones and tablets in media mode. We have found it to perform exceptionally well. We have no criticisms as to the nature of data transfer and no grievances on the charging capacity. The Hub recognized all the 3.0 devices right away as well as our 2.0 external HDDs. Sometimes, you might experience repeated dropouts of the 3.0 tools when tried to transfer data from multiple devices simultaneously. It might be a limitation of the laptop USB port, rather than the USB hub itself. Performance We used HD Tach to benchmark an external Seagate Hard Drive, which has a USB 3.0 interface. We had to use many peripherals but ran out of USB ports on our laptops. It worked just fabulous because the ports are 3.0. We were able to get the data transfer that we needed!
