What is FreeSync?

Note that having access to a FreeSync Premium Pro does not necessarily have access to the best gaming performance on every game. There are a few games that may not support it. For using any FreeSync in any form, you need access to a FreeSync certified monitor. You will also need to have access to a PC with an AMD graphics card. In the case of a PC game, your system needs to support DisplayPort or an HDMI connection. You will also need to have access to a Radeon Software graphics driver. You will need to turn it on through the AMD Radeon Settings.

What brought this change?

Well, it is Nvidia that has been assumed to be at the core of this change. It may be remembered that the concept of FreeSync came up when Nvidia launched its G-Sync compatibility. The G-Sync harmony was achieved with a physical component that you need to install on the monitor.

While Nvidia depended on the physical option, AMD developed the software options for screen tearing. This made almost every monitor compatible with FreeSync. However, Nvidia was soon ready with a plan to change the scenario further. They provided the users to use the FreeSync capabilities of the monitors. Likewise, they introduced the three categories for the G -Sync technology – G-Sync Compatible, G-Sync, and G-Sync Ultimate.

AMD decided to bring in the new changes and introduced the FreeSync Premium and FreeSync Premium Pro and the first FreeSync option.
