Performance has always been a pain point for most Windows users. It is one of the primary things Users complain about. How to make windows 10 run faster is a common question that a lot of end users have in their minds. The reason behind that because most consumers will buy an entry level PC or a Laptop with limited CPU, RAM and a crappy 5400 rpm hard drive. Although Windows 10 is highly optimized to run smoothly on all configurations, but running an Intel Atom processor with 2 GB of RAM is sometimes challenging. In this post, I am going to talk about the different ways to make your PC to run faster without the necessary expensive hardware upgrades.
Startup Items
As you keep adding programs, sometimes they happily add themselves to the system startup. Onedrive, DropBox you name it! Which means, every time you boot your PC, these programs will also load into memory and eat up valuable resources.
You can directly disable Startup items from Start>Run>MSCONFIG to disable all startup items in one go.
Alternatively, if you want granular control over your start-up items, try disabling selective items from the “Task Manager”
To access Task Manager, Right Click on the Start Menu or on the Taskbar>Select Startup
Optimize your Hard Disk with Disk Derangement
Go-To Start>Type Defrag>Select Disk Defragment
Open the Disk Defragmenter and select the following option:
The Disk Defragment program is only effective when you have high fragmented files on your disk.
Cleanup your Temporary Storage
- Right Click Start>Run> Type %temp%
- Select All > Shift+Delete
Turn off Shadows and Built-In Annimations
1. Right-click the Start button > Click on System > Click “Advanced system settings” on the left > Click the Advanced tab > Click the Settings button under Performance > Select “Adjust for best performance” or manually disable each items.
Turn on Fast Start-up in the Power Options Settings
