This energy efficient processor uses an optimized 12 nm FinFET manufacturing process for higher performance. This, when combined with MediaTek CorePilot 4.0, reduces the power consumption by 25% over its competitors. It is an octa-core processor with four big Cortex A73 cores clocked at 2.0 GHz and four Cortex A53 cores clocked at 2 GHz. CPU is coupled with ARM Mali-G72 MP3 GPU clocked at 800 MHz that results in a smooth gaming experience.
The MediaTek Helio A22 is a quad-core CPU that consists of ARM Cortex A53 cores clocked at 2.0 GHz. This one is also built on the 12 nm FinFET production process that helps in better power management. Despite being a low budget smartphone processor, Helio A22 supports up to 6 GB of LPDDR4x RAM clocked at 1600 MHz. Obviously, Helio A22 is not powerful enough to play your favorite games like PUBG with ease, but all the average graphics games will run smooth.
As far as the camera is concerned, Helio P60 supports a supersized dual camera setup with 24 MP + 16 MP camera modules, and a single HDR+Phase detection enabled 32 MP camera. Thanks to the AI unit on the Helio P60, the camera will have far more accurate face detection and scene detection that helps in getting better exposure and high dynamic range. Helio A22 also does well with the camera, the build in ISP supports up to 21 MP single camera and a dual camera setup of up to 13 MP + 8 MP. That’s not it, Helio A22 also supports AI face ID for face unlock and multi-frame noise reduction.
Helio P60 supports full HD+ display at a max 20:9 aspect ratio, while the Helio A22 supports HD+ display with 1600 x 720-pixel resolution. Helio A22 being the newer chipset comes with Bluetooth 5.0 while the Helio P60 comes with Bluetooth v4.2. Both the processors support dual 4G SIM with VoLTE support. Overall, both the Helio A22 and Helio P60 are great processors in their respective price.
Conclusion
It is not clear which phones will sport the new A22 SOC. I guess we will have to wait and watch out. We hope you like our comparison of Helio A22 vs P60 SOCs.
