Google released a new WiFi router for home networking made easy for non-technical users. It’s predecessor, the OnHub was a collaboration with TP-Link and Asustek, both Taiwanese manufacturers of networking products. However, in this case, Google is marketing this device directly as “MadebyGoogle“. When you configure Google WiFi Router, you can connect a maximum of 4 other Google WiFi routers to form a mesh WiFi network in your home. This ensures full WiFi connectivity even in the remotest corners of your home. Here is the breakup:

The Google Router will use the WiFi bands with less congestion (2.4 ghz or 5 ghz) and automatically switch to another router for better signal strength on the fly.

In case you have purchased more than 1 device(s) then you will have to repeat the process of scanning the QR code from the bottom of the device to create a secure connection. You can also test the WiFi signal strength by going into “Settings>Network check>Test mesh”. Other features of the companion app include control over WiFi devices with the ability to pause internet services. You can also prioritize your connection for certain devices over the other.
