DDR5 RAM is the fifth generation of Double Data Rate Synchronous Dynamic Random-Access Memory (DDR SDRAM). DDR5 RAMs operate at a lower voltage, i.e., 1.1V, compared to DDR4 RAM, which runs at 1.2V. Moreover, they integrate PMIC into the actual module. PMIC (Power Management Integrated Circuit) converts the 5V supplied by the motherboard to the 1.1V needed by the memory modules.
DDR5 octuples the highest DIMM capacity from 64 GB to 512 GB. DDR5 will also have more elevated frequencies than DDR4.
DDR5 will have about the same latency as DDR4 and DDR3.
