Casio AT-550 Touch Screen Calculator Watch (1984)

Update from 2016: Loads of Smart Watches and Wearables from Microsoft, Android Wear and Apple Watch.

None of the current 2016 Watches has been a bare necessity. It exists, you can buy them and none of them are useful except for some niches. For example, the Fitbit Surge and its siblings are meant for hardcore fitness enthusiasts. For the average Joe, it is like the home treadmill which is used to hang clothes.

The battery life in almost all of the wearables are no where near to a Casio from the 80’s or 90’s but we are hopeful that it would change. Qualcomm’s release of the Snapdragon Wear 2100 is supposed to change all of the shortcomings.

  • Reduction in size
  • increase in power efficiency.
  • The Snapdragon Wear 2100 is 30 percent smaller and 25% less in power consumption according to Qualcomm.
