Conclusion

Overall, this Tablet is a recommended buy from Asus. The battery issues should not be a major concern and most users would find it satisfactory. The screen dimming issue should be resolved with a future over the air update. If you are in the market for a sub 300$ tablet then this the tablet to go for.

The 64 GB version of the Asus Zenpad S 8" Tablet is awesome at this price point and there is very little competition. In terms of pure performance, the closest competitor is the Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 which is not available in the US. Then there is the Galaxy Tab A from Samsung. On the other hand, The Galaxy Tab S2 is double the price and with more or less comparable hardware specifications. Overall, the Asus Zenpad 8 64 GB is a well balanced tablet. The only let down is the absence of the latest version of Android Marshmallow.
