Huawei Phones with Kirin 960 Processor Cortex-A73 and Mali-G71 GPU

Besides Apple, Huawei is one such smartphone manufacturing company that makes its processors. Kirin 960 being the top end processor by Huawei. HiSilicon Kirin 960 chipset features the latest generation Mali GPU, fast ARM cores and upgraded networking technology.  Kirin 960 has a lot of advancements (enhancements in some) over its previous generations. Kirin 960 has set strong performance benchmarks for the competitors. Kirin 960 is made up of four high-performance ARM Cortex A73 cores at 2.4GHz and four low-power Cortex A53 cores clocked at the 1.8GHz frequency. It is built using a 16 nm fabrication process. Kirin 960 is one of the first processors to use the latest Mali G71 MP8 GPU. On a high level, the Kirin 960’s performance is somewhere in between the Snapdragon 821 and the 835.

Mali-G71 MP8 GPU is 180% faster than the previous generation Mali-T880 GPU. It comes with Vulkan support for much better gaming without overloading the CPU. Kirin 960 also carries a new Image Signaling Processor ISP which brings advancements in camera capabilities. In Kirin 960 Huawei focused heavily on battery life and security features embedded in the chip.

Huawei Honor V9 smartphone was launched in February 2017. It comes with a 5.7-inch QHD LTPS LCD with a resolution 1440*2560 pixels at 515 PPI. It is powered by an octa-core Kirin 960 processor paired with 6 GB of RAM.

The phone is available in two storage variants one with 64 GB and another one with 128 GB memory. It features a dual 12 MP cameras on the rear side and an 8MP camera on the front side. Out of the box, it runs on a skinned (EMUI5.0) Android Nougat v7.0 underneath.

Honor 9 is the latest release from Huawei, a Chinese smartphone manufacturer. It features a5.15-inch LTPS IPS LCD full HD display. It is the most affordable phone from Huawei that is powered by its top-end Kirin 960 processor paired with Mali-G71 GPU.

It is launched with two RAM variants, one has 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB internal memory, and top-model has 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB internal memory. Storage capacity can be expanded further in both phones up to 256 GB via the hybrid slot.

It features best in class dual rear camera with 20 MP sensor and 12 MP sensor. For video calling and selfies, it has an 8 MP camera. It is powered by 3200 mAh battery that lasts for the whole day and supports fast charging. Out of the box, it comes preloaded with Android 7.0 OS with EMUI 5.1 skin.

Huawei has launched plenty of phones in the first half of 2017. Huawei Honor 8 Pro comes with a 5.7-inch LTPS IPS LCD with 1440x 2560 pixels resolution at a PPI of 515 pixels per inch. It is also powered by Kirin 960 octa-core processor coupled with Mali-G71 GPU for smooth performance and better efficiency.

Huawei P10 was launched one month before the P10 Plus. Both phones look same but differ in size and hardware specifications. P10 features a 5.1-inch IPS-NEO LCD with 1080*1920 pixels resolution at a pixel density of 432 PPI.

Kirin 960 octa-core processor drives it with four Cortex A73 cores clocked at 2.4 GHz and four Cortex A53 cores clocked at 1.8 GHz. The processor is paired with 4 GB RAM. For storage, it has two options to choose from one having 32 GB capacity and the second one with 64 GB capacity.

As far as the camera is concerned, it has the same dual-camera setup 20 MP +12 MP like P10 plus and an 8 MP secondary camera. It runs on Android 7.0 and powered by a 3200-mAh non-removable battery with fast charging support. It has a Type-C port and a fingerprint scanner.

Huawei Mate 9 features a  bigger 5.9-inch full HD IPS display with 1080*1920 pixels resolution at 373 PPI density protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. It packs 4 GB RAM and 64 GB internal memory that is expandable up to 256 GB via micro SD card.

Octa-core Kirin 960 processor powers it with four cores clocked at 2.4 GHz and four cores clocked at 1.8 GHz. On the rear side, it features Dual Camera 20 MP + 12 MP with dual tone LED flash. Huawei P10 Plus was launched in April this year. It is powered by Huawei top end Kirin 960 octa-core processor (4×2.4 GHz Cortex-A73 & 4×1.8 GHz Cortex-A53) and Mali-G71 GPU. It comes in two options, one has 4 GB RAM with 64 GB ROM and top model has 6 GB RAM and 128 GB storage capacity.

P10 Plus is splash resistant and has a front mounted fingerprint scanner. It features a 5.5-inch IPS-NEO LCD with 1440*2560 pixels resolution at 540 PPI. Corning Gorillas Glass 5 layer protects the display from scratches and shocks.

The phone packs a dual camera setup on the rear side with 20 MP sensor and 12 MP sensor for DSLR type images. On the front side, it has an 8MP camera. A 3750 mAh battery gives enough power survive for the whole day with moderate usage. It runs on Android Nougat 7.0 underneath EMUI 5.1 skin.

It is available in two variants 4 GB RAM with 64 GB internal storage and 6GB RAM with 128 GB storage capacity.

It features a dual camera on the rear side with 20 MP sensor and 12 MP sensor. On the front end, it has a 8 MP camera. It has fingerprint sensor front mounted, accelerometer, gyro sensor, proximity sensor, barometer, and compass. It is powered by a high density 4000 mAh non-removable Li-Pro battery and run on Android Nougat 7.0 OS.

Huawei Honor Note 9

Huawei Honor Note 9, the successor of Honor Note 8 is rumored to be in manufacturing state. It is expected to be large display phone with dual camera setup. It will be powered by the Huawei flagship Kirin 960 octa-core processor with Mali-G71 MP8 GPU. However, there is no official news, but we have some specs According to leaks and reports.

It will feature a Quad HD 2K LCD. It might come with 6 GB of RAM and a dual 12 MP camera capable of recording 4K videos. It will be powered by at least 4000 mAh battery. It is expected that Huawei could launch this beast in the third quarter of 2017. For now, we have only that much information regarding the Honor note 9. As soon as something comes up, we will update it.
