Android Phones with Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SDM660 Processor

Right now there are only two phones launched with the Snapdragon 660 and rest are expected to be launched in the upcoming months. Very soon, there will be plenty of mid-range smartphones featuring the Snapdragon 660 processor, and we will update this post with the best ones.

After MI A1 success, Xiaomi has launched its successor, MI A2. It will feature a 5.99 inches LTPS IPS LCD with 1080 x 2160 pixels resolution at 403 PPI density. Out of the box, the Mi A2 will run on Android 8.1 Oreo (Android One). The phone will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 660 2.2 GHz octa-core processor with Adreno 512 GPU.  This phone will be available in three variants, 4 GB RAM with 64 GB, 4 GB RAM with 128 GB and 6 GB RAM with 128 GB inbuilt storage capacity.

Mi A1 gained its popularity due to the fantastic dual camera at such a low price. This time Xiaomi has further enhanced the camera. On the rear side, the phone gets a dual 12 MP + 20 MP camera. The front gets a 20 MP camera for high-quality selfies and videos. It has a USB 2.0, Type-C 1.0 reversible connector. You will also get a Type-C to 3.5 mm headphone jack adapter. The phone will be powered by a 3010 mAh battery and will support Quick Charge 3.0 for fast and efficient charging.

ZTE Nubia Z18 mini

ZTE Nubia Z18 mini has been announced. It will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC coupled with Adreno 512 GPU. It is a bezel-less phone with around 80.2% screen to body ratio. A 5.7 inches LTPS IPS LCD are easily accessible with one hand. Out of the box, the phone will come with Android Oreo 8.1. It will be equipped with 6 GB of RAM and two storage options 64/128 GB. In both the variants, you can add a microSD card up to 256 GB using the SIM 2 slot.

On the rear side, it will have a dual camera setup with 24 MP primary sensor and 5 MP depth-sensing camera. The front panel gets an 8 MP camera. A 3450 mAh battery will power it. It weighs 153 grams which is a plus point for Z18 Mini. The Z18 mini will feature dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth 5.0, reversible Type-C 1.0 connector and rear-mounted fingerprint scanner.

Asus Zenfone 4 features a 5.5 inches IPS LCD with 1080 x 1920 pixels resolution at 401 PPI density. The phone has a screen to body ratio of around 71.4% that is a low as we see the competitors. The phone is available in two variants. You can opt for the Snapdragon 636 or Snapdragon 660 SoC. Asus Zenfone 4 comes with two RAM options 4 GB and 6 GB with 64 GB inbuilt storage capacity.

It gets dual 12 MP + 8 MP camera on the rear side with Optical image stabilization for more stable videos and pictures. The front section gets an 8 MP camera. A 3300 mAh non-removable battery power up the phone and supports fast charging via the Type-C 1.0 reversible connector. Asus Zenfone 4 packs a powerful processor, plenty of RAM and good cameras but failed in design considering the new bezel-less and notched screen trends in the market. So if you are ok with the design, Zenfone 4 is an excellent option for SD660 SoC.

Nokia 7 Plus

Nokia 7 Plus is a stylish smartphone powered by Qualcomm’s powerful Snapdragon 660 processor coupled with Adreno 512 GPU. It comes with a 6-inch full HD IPS LCD with 77.2% screen to body ratio. Though the bezels are a bit thick as compared to the bezels phones that are available in the market still, it looks better. The front is all glass, and the rear side is made up of an aluminum body with copper edges that give it the durability to withstand shocks and drops.

It runs on Android Oreo 8.1 out of the box. Nokia 7 Plus packs 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB inbuilt storage that can be further extended up to 256 GB using SIM 2 slot. As far as the camera is concerned, Nokia was the first to launch the best camera phones in earlier days. They are still following the same camera legacy. The Nokia 7 Plus features a dual 12 MP + 12 MP sensors on the rear side with Zeiss optics and dual tone LED flash. On the front side, you get a 16 MP camera.

This phone also gets dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth 5.0, USB 2.0, Type-C 1.0 reversible connector, and a fingerprint scanner on the rear side. A 3800 mAh battery lasts longer than most of the smartphone in this category.  Despite having a large display and a big battery, Nokia manages to keep its weight under 183 grams. This time Nokia has decided to have a good grasp on the mid-range smartphone market.

If you need more, you can add micro SD card up to 256 GB in SIM 2 sot.

Vivo X20 gets a dual camera setup on the rear side with 12 MP + 5 MP sensors and a 12 MP camera on the front side. A 3250 mAh battery powers it. This phone gets a fingerprint (rear-mounted), accelerometer, gyro, proximity, and compass. The phone weighs 159 grams that’s where the relatively smaller power battery gives you the advantage.

Vivo X20 Plus

If 6 inches looks smaller to you, Vivo X20 Plus might be a good companion for you. It gets a 6.43 inches Super AMOLED display with  1080 x 2160 pixels resolution at 376 PPI density. X20 Plus manages to keep the screen to body ratio above 80%, thanks to the narrow bezels on the top and bottom of the screen. It runs on Funtouch OS 3.2 which is based on Android 7.1.1 Nougat. If you have used Stock Android and want to taste something different in Android, Funtouch OS could be a great pick for you.

Vivo X20 Plus gets the Qualcomm’s 600 series best processor till date, the Snapdragon 660 along with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB internal storage capacity. A dual camera with 12 MP and 5 MP that takes decent pictures is on the rear side, and the front side, a 12 MP camera is for selfies and video calling. It gets a relatively large, 3900 mAh battery which gives good backup. Its 181.5 grams weigh justifiable to the more significant screen size and a bigger battery.

Vivo X21

Vivo is taking the notched display seriously that was first seen in iPhone X. In 2018, most of the Vivo phones are featuring the notched display. Vivo X21 also got the same notched screen with 6.28 inches diagonal length. With 85.2% screen to body ratio, the area left around the screen is very less which looks stunning. For a phone of this price, the Snapdragon 660 won’t do them justice, but the design, looks, and camera that Vivo offers will make you think twice about this phone.

It packs 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB inbuilt storage capacity. It has got a Hybrid slot, means to use the microSD card you have to use the SIM 2 slot. The phone comes with dual 12 MP + 5 MP camera on the rear side and a 12 MP camera on the front side of the notch section. It runs on Funtouch OS 4.0 based on Android 8.1 Oreo. It is powered by a 3200 mAh battery which gives average backup which is a bit disappointing. But there is one exciting thing in this phone which is under display fingerprint scanner.

Sony H4213, H4113, and H3123 with Snapdragon 660 SoC.

Sony is said to be unveiling three phones powered by the Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 660 processor. Out of three, one could be a variant while the rest two will be completely different. This time Sony phone might come with the bezel-less display, but no sign of notched screen has been noticed in the leaked images. The phone will pack 3 GB and 4 GB RAM. All three will run on Android 8.0 Oreo. That’s it for now, as soon as something comes up about these three phones we will update you.

Oppo R11 smartphone was launched in June 2017. R11 is the first smartphone to come with the octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor with Adreno 512 GPU. It has 5.5-inch (1080 x 1920 pixels) Full HD AMOLED display. Oppo R11 is powered by a 3000 mAh battery with VOOC Flash Charging for fast charging.

The phone packs 4 GB RAM and 64 GB internal memory that can be expanded up to 256 GB. Out of the box, it comes with Android 7.1.1 Nougat. For photography, it has a dual camera 20 MP and 16 MP rear camera with dual tone LED flash and Sony IMX398 sensor. On the front side, it has 20 MP selfie camera. There are fingerprint sensor and all other sensors found in high-end smartphones.

2. Oppo R11 Plus

Oppo R1 Plus is the big brother of Oppo R11. It comes with a bigger 6-inch IPS full HD display with 1080*1920 pixels resolution. The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 octa-core processor powers this phone. It packs 6 GB of RAM and 64 GB internal memory expandable up to 256 GB.

R11 Plus has the same camera as in R11. The dual camera on the rear side 20 MP and 16 MP and a front facing 20 MP secondary camera. It runs on Android Nougat v7.1.1 and is powered by a more significant 4000 mAh battery. It is a dual-SIM smartphone, supports one Micro SIM and one Nano SIM.

3. Samsung Galaxy C10: Not Confirmed or Cancelled <Update from April 2018>

It will come with 6 GB RAM two variants one with 64 GB internal memory and another one with 128 GB ROM. It is backed by a 4000 mAh battery and runs on Android Nougat 7.1.1 OS. Moreover, C10 is going to be the first smartphone from Samsung lineup to come with dual 13 MP camera setup. On the front side, there will be a 16 MP camera. There are front mounted fingerprint sensor and Type-C connector.

4. Xiaomi X1

Xiaomi X1 one variant comes with a 5.5-inch full bezel-less display with a resolution of 1080 x 2160 pixels. It is said that it will come with 4GB/6GB of RAM. It will come with a dual camera setup with Sony IMX362 sensor or IMX386 sensor. There will be a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner.

5. Nokia 7: Confirmed with Snapdragon 630

It features a 5.5-inch IPS LCD with 1080*1920 pixels resolution. We have no official confirmation; rumors are that it will have 16 MP camera on the rear side and 8 MP camera on the front side. It is backed via 4000 mAh non-removable Li-ion battery.

6. Vivo X9S Plus: (Confirmed with SD 653)

As per the listing, the Vivo X9S Plus will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC. The phone features a 5.85-inch full HD Super AMOLED display. Additionally, the phone is protected by the 2.5D curved glass display. It will come with 6 GB RAM and 64/128 GB internal memory.

As per leaks, it will come with dual front camera setup. There will be 20 MP and 8 MP on the front side and 16 MP camera on the rear side. Vivo X9S Plus also retains 3.5mm headphone jack and the micro-USB port for charging. A 4000 mAh battery will power it.

7. Sharp Aquos S2

The new entry in the smartphone market with Snapdragon 660 SoC is Sharp Aquos S2.  It comes with 5.5-inch full HD LCD with 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass protection. It is powered by the Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 660 processor with Adreno 512 GPU.

It is equipped with 6 GB RAM  along with 128 GB storage capacity further expandable up to 128 GB via micro SD card. It is a dual-SIM smartphone that comes with the hybrid slot. It is preloaded with Android 7.1.1 Nougat OS.

Coming to the camera, it packs 12 MP rear camera with f/1.75 aperture, 1.4 um pixel size. On the front side, there is secondary 8 MP camera. There is a fingerprint sensor mounted on the front side. The 3020 mAh battery power up this phone and comes with quick charge 3.0 support.

8. Xiaomi Mi Note 3

Xiaomi Mi Note 3 was launched this week. This mid-range smartphone is equipped with the Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 660 octa-core processor (Quad 2.2 GHz Kryo 260 + Quad 1.8 GHz Kryo 260 CPUs) with Adreno 512 GPU. Mi Note 3 packs 6 GB of RAM and comes with two storage options 64 GB/ 128 GB.

This phone runs on Android 7.1.1 with MIUI 9 user interface. It is a dual-SIM smartphone, supports two nano-SIM. As far as the camera is concerned, it features a dual camera setup on the rear side, with 12 MP primary sensor and a 12 Mp secondary sensor. There is a 16 MP front-facing camera for brilliant selfies.

The phone also features the fingerprint scanner, Infrared sensor, and stereo speakers. Talking about additional features, it has Bluetooth 5.0, NFC and USB type-C for charging the phone at blazing fast speed. The phone packs 3500 mAh battery and supports Quick Charge 3.0.

Conclusion

Since the Snapdragon 660 is still relatively new in the market, we only have a few new phones currently on the market. Once the processor becomes mainstream, we expect to see much more design wins with this chipset.

Two more phones will be coming with the Snapdragon 660 SoC. One is Vivo X20, that is going to be launched in Sep 2017. As soon as the phone is launched, we will come with the actual specs of the phone. The second one is the HTC Ocean Life that is expected to feature with 660 processor and Android Oreo, but the launch date is not confirmed yet.
