In this post, we try to compare the Adreno 510 vs Mali T-860 objectively. Both are mainstream GPUs used by Qualcomm and MediaTek respectively. Adreno 510 and Mali T-860 are mobile graphics processor card for mid-range smartphones and tablets. Adreno 510 was first included in the Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 and 652 SoCs. Adreno 510 is based on the 500 architecture, While ARM Mali-T860 MP2 is found in the ARM SoCs like the MediaTek Helio P10.

Adreno 510 vs Mali T-860

We found the Adreno 510 to be better than the ARM Mali-T860. The Helio P10, the GPU is manufactured in 28nm at TSMC, while the Adreno 510 graphics processor is built on the 14nm fabrication process. The T860 comes in 2,4,8, and 16 core versions. But at 28nm, due to the older process, will consume more power from your device and may dry in an exponential fashion during gaming sessions.

Here again, the Adreno 510 wins the battle over the Mali-T860 MP2. Not only Adreno 510 GPU has better battery performance, but it also runs efficiently consuming less power. ARM Mali-T860 was made available since the first quarter of 2015 and supports OpenGL, similar to an Adreno 405. Adreno 510, on the other hand, was launched in the third quarter of 2015. Adreno 510 comes with better image signal processor for ultimate graphics and mobile camera experience.

Considering various benchmarks and real-time performance of both the graphics processor, the Adreno 510 comfortably wins over the AMR Mali-T860 GPU. Mali-T860, when compared with Adreno 405, was better or at par in performance. But this time with Adreno 510, Qualcomm has done a lot of changes that have enhanced the overall performance.
So our recommendation will be to go with the Adreno 510 based SOC’s unless the price difference of the GPUs is a major concern.
